Using the lens of sports these discussions will explore issues of identity, advocacy, access and self-determination. Dr. schneider will also celebrate disability as a cultural identity.

I had a really candid conversation with Doug Dumas about his career as a disabled athlete, and an advocate for people with disabilities. He talks about the complexity of dealing with multiple health challenges. He also discusses why mentoring young people with disabilities is the most important role he has ever played. I really enjoyed this conversation!

Today I sit down with Helmut Berthold who founded the Para Adaptive rowing program at the Greater Columbus Rowing Association in Columbus Ohio. He is also the Chairman of the Para High Performance committee with USRowing. We discuss the benefits of adaptive rowing for people with disabilities.
